The other week we were given a pressure test in class focusing on recycled clothing. We each went thrift shopping during the week to find old clothes to cut up and make into new garments.
Splitting into pairs, Phoebe and I made a skirt out of on old large shirt. Hawaiian! It's simply the collar put around the waist and buttoned wherever it fits. Easy as pie.
*Just a side note here: The bigger, the better. You have more fabric to play with if the original garment is bigger.*
Then we got a ridiculously long scarf and turned it into a cute, draped top which I personally thought was rather nice. I ended up keeping it because everyone else thought it was ugly :(

It was a bit plain, so Phoebe sewed up a cute little bow out of suit cuffs and we put a belt from another skirt onto it.
Ta da! Our finished outfit. Now don't get me wrong, it's rather ugly. But that wasn't the point. The point was to see if we could fashion something wearable out of something completely different. If there is a next time, I would definitely try to make it attractive as well.
